FAQ FROM PARENTS

What parents should know about Peek.

You should understand the apps your child uses. Here is what Peek is for, how it handles problems, and what it costs.

OUR MISSION

Make it easy to say something good about a friend.

There is often someone you would like to be closer to, and saying so out loud feels awkward. Peek gives friends a small, low-pressure way to compliment each other.

A pick is a little too shy to say in person, and a little fun to guess who sent it. We want that curiosity to be a game friends play together, and a reason to talk.

01

What does my child do on Peek?

Your child answers polls made of positive questions, and the friends they pick receive a compliment. Peek is built around friends and classmates, not strangers. There is no feed of unknown people to scroll through.

02

How does Peek handle bullying?

Poll questions are a mix of questions written by Peek and questions submitted by members. Anything a member submits, including questions and photos, is automatically screened before it goes live. Bullying, harassment, and impersonation are against the rules.

Every profile, post, and chat has a report option, and any person can be blocked. Reported content is taken down quickly while the team reviews it.

No app can prevent every conflict, including conflict that starts at school. If something feels wrong, we want to know.

Privacy & Safety: safeguards and rules

03

Can my child chat on Peek?

Yes, with friends. Members can chat by real name with people they follow, one to one or in small groups. If the other person does not follow them back, the chat starts as a request that person can ignore.

Messages are checked by automated review after they are sent and hidden if they break the rules. Blocking a person stops new messages in both directions, and any chat can be reported.

04

What should we do about an upsetting question, post, or person?

  • Do not reply or retaliate.
  • Report the content in the app, or block the person.
  • If you want us to look into it, email support with the username or a short description of what happened.

If someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or a trusted adult first.

05

Are picks anonymous?

Not completely. Each pick starts with a hint about the sender, such as "from a classmate in your grade". Stars unlock more hints, and a subscription can reveal their name.

We are trying to balance the sender's honest feelings with the receiver's curiosity. Because a pick can be revealed, Peek encourages compliments people are willing to stand behind.

06

Does Peek cost money?

Peek is free to download and use. It offers three optional weekly subscriptions: Pass, Premium, and VIP. Subscribers can reveal who picked them. Premium and VIP also let members send special picks and receive more picks.

Subscriptions are billed through the App Store or Google Play and renew until cancelled. On iPhone, cancel in Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions. On Android, cancel in the Play Store under Payments & subscriptions. Cancelling does not delete the account.

Members without a subscription see a small banner ad on their profile screen. On iPhone these ads are not personalized. On Android they may be.

07

What should I ask my child before they use Peek?

  • Who do you expect to see on Peek, and who invited you?
  • What would you do if a pick, question, or message made you uncomfortable?
  • Do you know how to report and block someone?
  • Do you plan to share your contacts? You can use Peek without it.
  • Are you comfortable with a pick you send being revealed?
  • Should we agree on spending before any subscription?

08

Who can use Peek?

Peek is for people aged 13 and over. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we deactivate it and delete the personal data. If you believe this applies to an account, email support.

09

What information does Peek collect?

Contact access is optional. By default, contacts stay on the phone and only short fragments of scrambled numbers are sent to Peek. Some versions ask for separate agreement before uploading encrypted names and numbers, kept for up to 30 days. Other members never see them.

School and grade are chosen by the member. School polls and school friend lists open only after a one-time verification with a school email address or a student ID photo, which is stored encrypted for up to 14 days and then deleted. Peek does not buy or sell personal data.

Contacts, texts, and your number

10

How do we delete the account?

In the app, open Settings and choose Delete Account. The account is deactivated right away and permanently deleted after 5 days. Signing in during those 5 days restores it. If your child no longer has the phone, email support with the phone number on the account.
